There’s something special about welcoming an alum back into our community. We get a glimpse of the child they once were, the person they’ve become, and the many ways their time at MST continues to shape their journey. In this Q&A, we catch up with Noah Kezin. While our students may eventually leave our classrooms, they remain forever part of the story we share.

What years and which classes did you attend MST?

2010-2017; Sunshine North, Oak, Willow.

What do you remember most fondly about MST?

I remember the friends I made and PE (with James ;)) most fondly.

What have you been doing since you left?

Since I left, I finished high school at YIS and in Vancouver, Canada doing the IB Diploma and now I am studying finance and international business at McGill University.

Where are you living now?

Now my family is in Vancouver while I attend university in Montreal and I go back to Vancouver during the breaks.

How does it compare to living in Tokyo?

It's much slower, less busy, and there is more nature in Vancouver. It's beautiful. Montreal is a student city and feels very young and fresh with a balance of historical European influence. While Tokyo is awesome, at this stage in life I think Montreal is perfect.

What do you love most about living there?

I love how close campus and downtown are to each other and living with my friends.

What’s your favorite place there?

My favourite place here is this ramen place run by a Japanese man only open on the weekend called Oh..MISO!!

What was your favorite place in Tokyo or Japan?

My favourite place in Tokyo was Azabujuban, where I grew up.

What do you miss the most about living in Japan?

I miss the food, the language, the culture, and public transit. Some of the best in the world and I’ve yet to experience anything similar elsewhere.

What was the toughest part of living in Tokyo and Japan?

The toughest part of living in Tokyo was the heat in the summer.

What’s your biggest passion these days?

My biggest passion these days is photography and exploring. I love walking around to new areas, sometimes bringing a camera and capturing what I see. It's a great way to stay grounded and disconnect for a while.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I love spending time with my friends. Whether that’s at home watching a movie, going out to explore, studying – it doesn’t really matter.

What would you like to say to the MST community?

I would say to absolutely stay in touch with the people in your community. We’re a small community and everyone will go on to do things all around the world, in different fields and catching up is always extremely interesting.
